First look at Netflix’s upcoming Castlevania series!

That’s right, the long-awaited Netflix series based on Konami’s famous video game series has finally received a tantalising teaser trailer and a release date.

The Castlevania games follow the adventures of various individuals across different time periods who must infiltrate Dracula’s lair, the titular Castlevania, in order to defeat the master vampire once and for all. Player characters include the vampire-hunting Belmont Clan and Dracula’s son Alucard. The animated TV series will be based principally on the plot and characters of the third game in the series, Dracula’s Curse, judging by Trevor Belmont’s familiar whip and clothing.

And for all of you fans worried they would tone down the blood and gore for television, this teaser seems to put those to rest; the series’ signature gothic art design and bloody violence remains intact on Netflix, judging by the trailer.

What do you think? Do you think it looks like a solid watch, or will it be just a miserable pile of screts? Share your thoughts in the comments section below.

Castlevania will be hitting the catalogues of Australian Netflix subscribers July 7.
