StarCraft Remastered confirmed for Australian Release

Late last week we saw news drop out of South Korea that the original StarCraft was getting the remastered treatment complete with a Northern Hemisphere release date. While knowing it is coming is great news for hardcore StarCraft fans, you expect more from us so we set out to confirm the Australian release details for you.

StarCraft Remastered will be available in Australia for Summer 2017 as confirmed directly with us by Blizzard. While the details globally will be confirmed closer to the date for all territories we should expect to see a formal date between December 1st, 2017 and March 1st, 2018 in Australia for PC & Mac.

What should you expect from the updated edition? Also from the official source we can tell you the update to the original StarCraft will contain both the original campaign as well as the Brood War expansion. The over 50 campaign missions have been updated to ensure 1080p cinematics in addition to new storytelling screens, but more importantly to support UHD/4K gameplay.

There is also big news for competitive players. With StarCraft 2 a staple of competitive eSports globally for some time now, the remastered edition will also receive several improvements over the original release in terms of network gameplay. Matchmaking and Ladders will be added to the already existing network play modes popular with long time players to leverage Blizzard’s online gaming network.

We will share more news about the Australian release as it comes to hand, but in the meantime you can always dust off your original 1998 release copy to get you through to the end of the year.
