Footrot Flats Creator Murray Ball has Passed Away

Dog from Footrot Flats by Murray Ball

Footrot Flats creator Murray Ball has passed away at age 78 today. While not strict speaking an Australian creator the Footrot Flats series has no doubt inspired countless comic artists across Australia and New Zealand in it’s time.

First created in 1976, Footrot Flats has seen decades of syndication in major Australian newspapers (including the Sunday comic section) with the adventures of ‘Dog’, countless published collections and a major animated movie (which is also known for it’s title of unofficial second anthem of New Zealand.

Thank’s Murray and even though you are gone we hope that we see Dog right up there in Australian newspapers with Calvin & Hobbes for many years to come.
