We hope you like Star Wars because if you don’t you might want to take a carbonite nap til Sunday. Here is everything happening across Australia this week.

1. Queensland

Wednesday

Need to get into the Star Wars mood with some pre-midnight session viewing of The Force Awakens? You can catch it at Brisbane‘s New Farm cinemas or the Limelight in Ipswich before their midnight session. You have probably already seen it a dozen time but we don’t really have to twist your arm for one more do we?

If you are still looking for an event to get you to midnight in Brisbane can we recommend The Palace Cinemas The Force Awakens and The Last Jedi event this Wednesday. Teaming up with Part Time Hero Props and Netherworld this is a huge event with Trivia, Cosplay and gaming between the two films. Find out more and grab tickets via the official site.

And lastly for your Wednesday if you need to watch the greatest Christmas movie ever made again you can again at Aether Brewing in Brisbane for one of their mid-week movie nights. With brews, burgers and McClane make sure you aren’t the wrong guy in the wrong place at the wrong time.

Thursday

A long long time ago in a galaxy far far away… The next chapter in the Star Wars saga continues this Thursday with Star Wars Episode VIII – The Last Jedi in cinemas officially across the country. We would tell you to check out our full review this Thursday but you probably have seen it 5 times by then.

Also in cinemas if you need a break from Star Wars, the Dreamworks animated Ferdinand hits cinemas. If seeing a movie about a bull voiced by John Cena is on your bucket list then prepare to tick that one off.

Friday

On Friday you can continue with Trollhunters Season One as part two hits Netflix. Not familiar with Guillermo del Toro’s animated work? With voice talent like Kelsey Grammer, Ron Perlman and even Tom Hiddleston + Clancy Brown showing up, it’s hard not to like.

Saturday

Netherworld starts your weekend Pinball with a three strike tournament this Saturday. Entry is $20 and this also gets each player a special spell card they can use at any point during the games. Think Magic the Gathering meets Bally. It’s on Saturday in Brisbane.

Also in arcade news for Brisbane the 1-Up Arcade opens up it’s latest section with the Retro Lounge and Pinball Gallery available from Saturday at the Arcade. Check out all the awesome arcades, pinball machines and make sure you make time to check our indie arcade also hosted at the Arcade all for the one admission price.

And lastly this weekend is your chance to get in on the Oceanic Pokemon Championships with ESL regionals on this Saturday and Sunday. Check out the ESL site for the full details including registration requirements and rules for the weekend match in Brisbane.

Sunday

The Greaser Bar jumps on the Star Wars bandwagon (their words not ours) with Star Wars Trivia. There are prizes and more but make sure you rock up in your best Jedi robes or metal bikini to score a prize from straight behind the bar. It’s happening in Brisbane this Sunday.

Wrap up your Weekend with some Christmas Two Bit Cinema Club at Netherworld in Brisbane. This Sunday catch the Hulk Hogan Santa with Muscles with the Schwarzenegger Jingle All the Way. If you didn’t manage to pickup your Two Bit Cinema Club card last week make sure you do this week to pick up deals whenever TBCC is on.

2. New South Wales & ACT

Wednesday

Looking for a Star Wars themed event to get you to midnight on Wednesday? If you are in Canberra our pick is the Reload Bar for their pre-screening party. Just make sure you pick up some tickets at the Dendy or through Impact Comics to make sure your seat is safe.

And Looking for a pre-Last Jedi screening of The Force Awakens in Sydney? Grab your ticket at the Ritz Cinema before their midnight screening or if you want a side of Star Wars Trivia Event Cinemas in George Street also have you covered.

Thursday

Also on Thursday night but only in Sydney, Niche 505 wraps up with it’s final movie for the year Run Lola Run. This German original is a definite cult flick that should be on everyones must watch list. If you have never seen it make sure you get to the George Street Event Cinema.

Saturday

Are you a Twitch broadcaster in Sydney? Or even just an active member of the community? Head to the Spawn Point Small Bar this Saturday to meet your favourite streamers from the local scene. Check back to the Spawn Point Facebook page over the next few days for the full guest list.

Sunday

Are you a lady who loves to talk comics in Sydney? Then you probably should be going to the Queens of Kings Comics meet this Sunday. The Comic Book club will be talking about this months book the Grant Morrison Klaus. It’s on at Kings Comics.

3. Victoria & Tasmania

Wednesday

Return to the upside down this Wednesday in Melbourne for Stranger Things Trivia. Put all your Season One and Two knowledge to good use for a bar tab and other prizes to get you through the holiday season. Booking is essential and only a gold coin required for entry.

Kick back at the BETA Bar on Friday to get a helping of Nintendo goodness. Themed Cosplay gets you cheap entry as always but get there early to make sure you can get your place in the Smash Bros. Tournament. It’s happening Friday in Melbourne.

The Eureka Hotel in Melbourne this Friday is holding a Harry Potter themed event with everything from Butterbeer to Quiddich Table Tennis to Pottermore Trivia. Check the official site for details about booking a table for you and your friends.

Saturday

Need some sugar to get you through the weekend? The Allen’s Lollies pop-up shop is open this Saturday in Melbourne. Sure it’s not pop culture but how else will you go for that world record of longest stretched lolly snake. Look for it in Melbourne on Swanson St.

And on Saturday watch The Last Jedi again, but under the stars on the State Cinema rooftop in Hobart. Tickets are still available because they will only be available on the day so make your way there first thing Saturday morning to pick up yours.

Sunday

And closing out your Sunday, and 2017 for Tekken at Area 52 in Hobart, the Tekken 7 Final Tournament. This double elimination PS4 is happening this weekend.

4. South Australia & Northern Territory

Wednesday

Need a reason to Cosplay this weekend? If you are in Whyalla check the Whyalla street party as Whyalla Cosplay are taking the opportunity to promote cosplay in the community. If you already know the group or even if you haven’t and want to show off your own cosplay, head to the street party this Saturday to also enter the Cosplay comp.

It’s the Nostalgia Box’s 2nd Birthday and you can celebrate with them in Perth this Saturday. With everything coming out of the display cases to celebrate don’t miss your chance to play with everything from the original Powerglove to Ecco the Dolphin on the original Mega Drive CD. Tickets are limited for this so secure yours.

Sunday

Welcome to the Party Pal at Perth‘s Luna Leederville for one of their epic immersive screenings but this time it’s the greatest Christmas movie ever made – Die Hard. That’s right, with just about every one of these events selling out almost instantly we would of stopped reading this by now to get tickets if we were you.
