This week brings Guardians of the Galaxy writer/director James Gunn’s The Belko Experiment to theatres and tons of TV from The Flash Season Four to Riverdale Season Two to Ducktales. Plus there is stuff you can leave the house for too! Here is what is happening across Australia this week.

1. Queensland

Wednesday

Wednesday night for TV, The Flash Season Four starts on Foxtel. With a lot of US shows coming back expect to see a few of these this week (with Gotham Season Three having started Monday and Supergirl Season Three having started on Tuesday).

Looking to get out of the house with some D&D? Drinking Dragon’s our favourite D&D Dungeon Masters are bringing D&D to the people again this Wednesday night in Brisbane at the Brat Cave. If you know your way around a D20 or even if you don’t all are welcome at Drinking Dragons.

Haven’t seen the latest Blade Runner yet? (it’s good) Before you do maybe rewatch the original this Wednesday night in Brisbane at Aether Brewing. Starting at 6:30 pints and popcorn can help your Wednesday night date night.

Thursday

In Cinemas across Australia this Thursday fans of gore will be happy with two films to scratch that itch. Happy Death Day is like Groundhogs Day but with murder and The Belko Experiment (in limited cinemas) written by Guardians of the Galaxy writer/director James Gunn.

Continuing for the TV series returns DC’s Legends of Tomorrow Season Three starts this Thursday, but only on Foxtel. Also on Foxtel on the same night, Mr Robot returns for Season Three!

Friday

We weren’t kidding about TV with Foxtel getting the exclusives from the US with Season Six of Arrow hitting the small screen but also on Friday the one we have been waiting for… Ducktales!

And last mention for TV this week but on Netflix this time – Riverdale Season Two starts on Friday. If you haven’t seen Season One you can still binge it on Netflix, or just to remind yourself how last season left off.

Friday brings us closer to end of this season of In the House at Event Cinemas with Wayne’s World. Grab your friends, cram into the smallest car you can find and rock out to some Bohemian Rhapsody as you grab some tickets to this one session only screening this Friday.

On Friday in Brisbane you can enjoy an evening in Middle Earth with the Tolkien Fellowship of Brisbane and some special guests from Peter Jacksons’ the Hobbit. But if one night isn’t enough Saturday night continues with a Middle Earth dinner and costume party! Buy a ticket for one or both days with proceeds supporting the Pyjama Foundation.

Saturday

Enjoy Potterfest last weekend? Need to show off your near encyclopedic Harry Potter knowledge? The Hotel West End in Brisbane are playing host to a 20 years of magic Harry Potter Trivia Night this Saturday. Booking is absolute essential so decide if you need a seat or a table and study your potions.

Sunday

Fans of Teen Wolf will have already picked up their tickets for Creatures of the Night 4 in Brisbane this Sunday. First Contact Conventions has brought out stars of the (now ended) MTV series for the 4th convention of this type, here is hoping for Michael J Fox for Creatures of the Night 5.

2. New South Wales & ACT

Wednesday

Wednesday night for TV, The Flash Season Four starts on Foxtel. With a lot of US shows coming back expect to see a few of these this week (with Gotham Season Three having started Monday and Supergirl Season Three having started on Tuesday).

Starting Wednesday (well technically Tuesday) the Sydney Sci-Fi Film Festival is on. Running until Sunday catch a host of Sci-Fi films including locally made epics like Project Eden as they play in Sydney.

Not only letting you show off your best Jules Verne but also hosting a selection of Steampunk market stalls for you to complete your perfect brass and clockwork look.

Looking for a mint original Castle Grayskull for your battle damage Skeletor action figure? Have you tried the Hurtsville Collectables and Music Fair? Its happening this Sunday in Sydney!

And if you cant find what you were searching for in Hurtsville jump over to the Penrith Collectormania Fair also in Sydney on Sunday for one of NSWs largest collectables fair. If you cant find that Castle Grayskull there then… well just keep looking, we believe in you!

3. Victoria & Tasmania

Wednesday

Wednesday night for TV, The Flash Season Four starts on Foxtel. With a lot of US shows coming back expect to see a few of these this week (with Gotham Season Three having started Monday and Supergirl Season Three having started on Tuesday).

It wouldn’t be a Wednesday night in Melbourne without a tournament at Bartronica and this week it’s Diddle Kong Racing on the N64. As always your entry fee gets you a pint of something tasty as you square off against other local talent to win the coveted Loot Box. It kicks off at 7:30pm.

Love some table top action in Hobart? TasPop’s monthly Board Game Day is happening this Saturday at Good Game Hobart. With a bunch of new games to learn and play, this could be your regular monthly thing.

Also in Tasmania in Sheffield outside of Launceston the Tasmanian Medieval Festival is on this Saturday and Sunday. Happening both days but Jousting on the Saturday you can check out everything from Sword Combat and Archery to Pony Rides. Yes, Ponies!

Sunday

Trying to hunt down that mint in box Yellow Lion to complete your 1982 Voltron set? Have you tried the Bendigo Record and Comic Toy Fair? It’s happening this Sunday in Bendigo! It’s also playing host to the Bendigo Cosplay Contest and Artist Alley! What more do you want on a Sunday!
