EB Expo returns to the Gold Coast, Blade Runner 2049 comes to cinemas, and Teen Wolf in Adelaide/Melbourne while Wizards in Perth. Here is everything happening across Australia this weekend.

1. Queensland

Wednesday

Dominated ever Harry Potter Trivia across Brisbane? Looking for somewhere new? Try Finn McCool’s in Fortitude Valley for their free Harry Potter Trivia this Thursday night. Oh and you can Accio yourself some prizes too!

Friday

Friday sees Outta the Box continue at Brisbane‘s Myer Centre with the anime classic Ninja Scroll. This hard R18+ anime classic was the first love of many anime fans so if you have never seen it make sure you grab some tickets online now!

A little delayed from the US, if you have Foxtel you can catch the continuation of the ‘Heroes’ series on the SYFY channel this Friday. The 13 episode series continues the story from the 2006-2010 series. Between this and the X-Files we still hold hope for Firefly season 2.

If you are in the mood for Vampires and Cory Haim in Ipswich, jump back to a time before Vampires were sparkly or hunters were named Buffy. Catch a screening of The Lost Boys this Friday at the Limelight Cinemas.

And lastly Fright Nights continue at Movie World on the Gold Coast! If you are a fan of Horror and Halloween scares then make it part of your October plans.

Saturday

Kicking off Saturday (well Friday night if you head to the concert) on the Gold Coast is EB Expo! Running both Saturday and Sunday you can still pick up a ticket for either day to get your hands on some soon to be released games like the new Assassins Creed or Battlefront. Oh and there is some cosplay too!

Also as part of the EB Expo on the Gold Coast after party on Saturday you can join the Buffy the Vampire Slayer 20 Years of Slaying after party. It’s free for all Slayers, Scooby Gangs and Whedonites who have a EB Expo ticket.

Need something Monster Truck related to do in Brisbane? How about some Monster Trucks? Do you like Monster Trucks? Monster Trucks!!! (You can get tickets here)

Need some more Harry Potter in Brisbane? How about watching Harry Potter and the Chamber of Secrets accompanied by the Queensland Symphony Orchestra? It’s happening this Saturday for 2 sessions only with tickets still available via Ticketek.

Sunday

Are your skills at Last Starfighter levels in horizontal and vertical shooters? Head to the 1-Up Arcade in Brisbane this Sunday to enter the Shmups Tournament. Sure there is a cash prize but 1-Up has been killing it with the most epic trophies, you know you want it.

And lastly, lovers of Anime scores may enjoy YouTube’s Anime composer Animez who finishes up his Australian tour in Brisbane on Sunday. Tickets are still available via the official site.

2. New South Wales & ACT

Sunday

Sunday is your last chance to go to the Dinosaur Festival in Sydney! Why? Because Dinosaurs! It runs every day up to Sunday before it goes extinct, check the official site for more details.

Looking for that hard to find Hordak figure to complete your She-Rah Princess of Power Collection? Need to find a mint AT-AT in box? Try your luck at the Nexus Toy Fair in Melbourne this Saturday and Sunday. This is the last of these quarterly events this year so it’s time to get your Christmas shopping done.

Aw yeah, you gotta get Schwifty at the newly opened Respawn bar in Perth for their Rick and Morty party. Come dressed in your best lab coat to try some of Rick’s love potion #9 or play some VR Virtual Rick-ality (which is a real game but it’s no ‘Roy’). There is an entry fee at the door but as always come in your best R&M cosplay will get you $5 off the door.

WizardFest comes to Perth this Saturday! Dust off your best school robes and try some tasty potions. This is a ticketed event but you can still Accio some now.

Starting Saturday and running all weekend long you can get yourself to Bricktober as it is on again in Perth. Run to support local charities and full of LEGO, you don’t really need another reason to book online now.
