LEGO in Brisbane, OzComicCon in Sydney and the original Blade Runner back in cinemas, here is everything happening across Australia this week.

1. Queensland

Wednesday

Wednesday is your last chance to catch Toyko Ghoul at Brisbane‘s Garden City Event Cinemas. If you love Zombies, Vampires and Anime combined then this is probably your kind of thing.

Goonies Never Say Die and this Wednesday at the Lime’s Rooftop Bar in Brisbane neither do you with a screening of the Goonies. Classic cinema on the rooftop under the stars for only $10 a ticket? Grab yours now.

Thursday

In cinemas across Australia Flatliners is released. If you aren’t familiar with the original Kiefer Sutherland maybe check it out before you watch the new one with Ellen Page (who we also love). While it seems like a reboot we know that Jack Bauer does make an appearance with a similarly named character from the original.

Friday

Psych’d for the Blade Runner 2049 hitting cinemas next week? Head to New Farm Cinemas in Brisbane this Friday to catch the original 1982 edition on the bring screen. Set in the futuristic world of November 2019 get some vintage Harrison Ford with this single session only.

Saturday

Happy Astronomy Day Everybody! With the Australian Space Agency announced this week it’s well timed to get your space on. Maybe look up your local Observatory or just head outside tonight.

Did you catch the awesome LEGO display at OzComicCon last weekend including the LEGO State Law Building? If not you have a second chance with BrisBricks happening all this long weekend from Saturday in Brisbane.

Also in Brisbane this Saturday and Sunday before their were Jedi there were Samurai. And this weekend catch a rare Japanese Antique Samurai Sword Exhibition featuring some swords up to 700 years old. It’s only on for a limited time so make sure you don’t miss out, or you may have to wait another 700 years.

Know your Accio from your Avada Kedavra? Then grab your wizard school robes and friends to head for Harry Potter Trivia at Little Clive in Brisbane. Booking is essential with tables limited.

And lastly Fright Nights is back at Movie World on the Gold Coast! If you are a fan of Horror and Halloween scares then make it part of your October plans.

Sunday

Also at New Farm Cinemas in Brisbane this Sunday to celebrate the 40th anniversary of the classic Spielberg film you can catch Close Encounters of the Third Kind! It is guaranteed to have you playing with your mashed potatoes for days after.

Have you been to Brisbane‘s 1-Up Arcade? This Sunday is the perfect excuse with the Video Game Market. Checkout some old school console games before heading inside for some old school arcades!

And lastly for Brisbane, if you wished your long weekend was never ending catch a screening of the Neverending Story at the Metro Arts. Tickets and sessions are limited to one day only, but you can get yourself an all day pass and maybe catch some other indie favourites.

Love trains? Of course you do. Trains are cool. That’s why you are probably looking forward to heading to the 2017 Model Railroad Exhibition in Sydney this weekend. It starts on Saturday and runs all long weekend.

Love Roleplaying Games? SYDCON is happening this Saturday and all long weekend run by the Sydney Roleplay Gamers Association. Run by a team of volunteers this event aims to be Australia’s friendliest role play event.

Need your anime fix in Sydney this Saturday? Anime at Abbotsford is running a special AnimeSydney Maid Cafe. This is a booking only event so booking is completely essential.

OzComicCon kicks off this Saturday in Sydney! Cosplay, Comics, Anime and some massive Star Wars themed displays + a Justice League Escape room are just some of the reasons this is where you want to be this weekend.

And looking for the after Sydney OzComicCon party? Head to the Spawn Point Bar for their post OzComicCon event. Cosplay is welcome and wear your wristband for some discounted beverages.

Sunday

Not enough to do this weekend with OzComicCon, SYDCON and MOAB in Sydney? Then this Sunday to celebrate the 40th anniversary of the classic Spielberg film you can catch Close Encounters of the Third Kind at Dendy’s Newtown and Circular Quay (and Dendy Canberra too if that is closer)! Before mentioning anything else we want to remind you that Swordcraft Quest 2017 is still happening in Caveat (2 Hours north of Melbourne). It’s Australia’s largest LARPing with Quests, Epic Battles and Tales around the campfire and it finishes on Sunday.

Starting Sunday in Caveat (2 Hours north of Melbourne) Swordcraft Quest begins. One of Australia’s largest LARPing events, it runs from this Sunday until next for a full week of Quests, Epic Battles and Tales around the campfire.

Looking for something to do Friday night in Melbourne? Head to the Beta Bar for their Zelda Party. Dress in your best cosplay to win some cool Madman prizes but remember, it’s dangerous to go alone.

LAN-Slide is back for it’s 21st session as East Melbourne‘s largest LAN party! It’s on the same time as the grand final but where else will you be able to play in tournaments for Counter Strike: Global Offensive, League of Legends, Dota 2, Rocket League, Hearthstone, Team Fortress 2, Overwatch and Playerunknown’s Battlegrounds, all this weekend! It’s on Saturday and Sunday.

Sunday

Psych’d for the Blade Runner 2049 hitting cinemas next week? If you wanted to catch the original first then there is only one way to watch it in Melbourne with the Melbourne IMAX having one session only to screen the remastered IMAX edition of the original 1982 film! Tickets will be extremely limited with one session only so don’t wait til you get to the door.
